This weekend was pretty laid back.
We went out for our tenth anniversary on Friday.
I can’t believe we’ve been together for a decade. It defies reason.
We were kids where we first started dating – albeit, kids who thought they knew everything.
Now we can drink legally …
And we enjoy our own variation of the “good” drink – my Riesling, his beer.
We went to Zengo’s on the Promenade.
We had sushi, duck fried rice and thai chicken empanadas.
It’s a Latin-Asian fusion type of place.
And some coffee for dessert with a Mexican Chocolate Bar – delish.
Then we went home, cuddled on the couch and watched a movie on Netflix.
For us, it was a pretty good anniversary.
Then the next day, the Boy decided he wanted to walk. I mean, like really walk – so he decided to take us on a 5 mile hike around Santa Monica.
I agreed on condition that it ended somewhere nice for brunch.
We went north towards Montana, which was pretty busy on a Saturday.
I happened to glance inside of the Williams Sonoma and saw (to my delight!) the Blender Girl giving a turoial from her new book.
But undeterred, after trying out her smoothie and mayo recipes, the Boy got s back on track as we loped towards the ocean.
Equally undeterred, I steered us towards Le Pain Quotient and brunch!
Can I tell you how much I loved brunch? It was amazing.
And I am n general in love with brunching.
And then we trekked back home. Just about 5 miles all around.
Not bad for a Saturday morning.
Made only better by finding a package for me at home!
I have a very cheeky bestie. Imagine – me changing my name?! Yeah right.
I love her.
I also grabbed a baguette and some hazelnut spread for home.
This stuff is soooooo good …
And the baguette became our dinner, and then breakfast.
I made a baguette-based french toast casserole that turned out pretty awesome.
Served with coffee, fruit salad, maple crusted bacon and mimosas.
Then we hung around, did the groceries, got a bike pump to replace the broken one and then I taught the Boy how to make pizza! And we tucked in, watched some more Buffy (and some Angel) and called it a pretty laid back weekend.
Next week, maybe a hike around one of Calfornia’s parks? Or possibly some sort of exploration of a sandy beach? Tune in and we’ll see!
How was your weekend?
