My Weekend: Pancake Mishaps, old movies and The Getty

Not gonna lie – this weekend was pretty low-key and awesome!

On Friday night, we gave into Peyton Manning’s Aw-Shucks good looks and ordered some Papa Johns and watched movies on Netflix – first, the Swartzennegger film The Last Stand, and then an old classic favourite of mine, eXistenZ.All in all, a pretty good night in, with some wine, pizza and good company. Followed by a good old fashioned debate over where the movies fit in the pantheon of movies we’ve watched, including The Matrix and Inception for the latter. Also – the former was very much a GM commercial with guns. Lots of fun.

Saturday was an errand day – started with pancakes and fruit salad, moved on to getting groceries and finished off with thai fried rice and pad thai.

Sunday, though, was where we decided to meet up with some friends for lunch at the Getty. It was our first time. I will allow the pictures to do most of the explaining:

It sure was windy when we stepped off the tram.

I was quite taken with some impressionist pieces, particularly the ones of common everyday life. I loved this one of Millners.

The Getty was pretty amazing. The art, the architecture, the veiws – even with the everyday Los Angeles haze that rolled from the ocean through the cities and covered LA proper so we couldn’t see it through the fog, it was breathtaking. And so quiet. The traffic along the 405 was a hum more than anything, and though it is technically winter and the gardens lay mostly dormant, you could see the majesty of them.

I highly recommend going to visit if you’re in the LA area. It’s quite the treat! I’ll even go with you! 🙂

What did you do this weekend?
